About the Artists:
MARCEL BONTEMPI
Graphic artist, musician, professional youth! Marcel Bontempi, who lives in Gudensberg, is certainly known to many through bands. Whether cover, poster design, artwork or stage design – his versatility and wonderful works have made him an established figure in the field of rock’n’roll illustration for a long time. At this moment, most “with it” or “aware” folks in our retro scene have common knowledge and informed opinions of that strange musical alchemist known as Mr. Marcel Bontempi. His phenomenal career arc from the 1998 debut of 1960s-beat band combo, The Montesas, to his “monster” solo hit of 2013, “Dig A Hole” (on Sleazy Records), has seen Marcel’s star rise ever higher as a steady stream of his popular and clever recordings have been snatched up by an ever-widening fan base. Live stage appearances by Marcel and his gal “Friday,” the effervescent Miss Ira Lee, and Marcel’s own “hillbilly” gang, Dr. Bontempi’s Snake Oil Company, at clubs and festivals throughout Europe (and even in Nashville and Las Vegas) have deservedly helped to spread the Bontempi infamy and infatuation far and wide.
LOLA LOLA
With their songs being highlighted around the world by cult DJs, radio stations and the music blogosphere, LOLA LOLA have traveled the Iberian highways to clubs and festivals, firing up audiences and leaving a trail of worn shoes and infatuated eardrums behind them.
With their roots in the ever pulsating and innovative creative movement in the city of Porto, LOLA LOLA were formed in 2014, from the union of a very experienced and tested musical trio: Tiago Gil (Guitar), Miguel Lourenço (Bass) e Hélder Coelho (Drums), all formerly of Os Tornados, to which were added the disconcerting voice of Carla Capela, known in Porto’s nightlife circuit as DJ Just Honey, and a powerful baritone sax, currently in the hands of the master Rui Teixeira. Nurtured by the musical universe of the 50s and 60s, and inspired by R&B/Popcorn, 50s/60s and Rock’n’Roll.
Artwork Inspiration:
The captivating artwork on the gatefold cover is a creation by the talented illustrator Rui Ricardo, who drew inspiration from the movie “Invisible Man.” This visually stunning piece complements the music and enhances the overall experience of owning this limited-edition vinyl.
